It's Monday

Breakfast consists of a fruit punch smoothie. Really no different than normal. An orange, fresh berries, cantaloupe, acai, ice, and some cold water. Very tasty, but a bit on the chilly side given the current temperature in the house. I am on speech therapy duty so I am not concerned with lunch, but find out later from Brian that he and Eden have make it through lunch without much issue. Everything seems to be going rather smoothly. A nice surprise to say the least.

Dinner surpasses my expectations. And as was last night, Brian and I are in the kitchen late into the evening. The ingredients include sable fish, potatoes, and mustard greens. But the menu title is far more elaborate; reminiscent of a fine restaurant:

Pepper encrusted sable fish paired with fennel-potato purée and wilted mustard greens and shallots—all in a bed of carrot-vanilla emulsion.

This meal ends up being one of the highlight meals of my life. The fish almost melts in my mouth. The pepper crust is a new taste sensation and combined with the carrot emulsion is pure heaven. The potato fennel concoction blends so well with both. And according to Brian, the three together are nirvana. Unfortunately, I have eaten my portion too quickly to find out. The mustard greens turn out to be somewhat of a throw-away on the plate, but I blame myself for not taking enough care in the preparation. As I see it, if I get nothing more than this meal from this experiment—it has been a success; maybe not for the experiment's sake, but no matter. I am feeling pretty cocky about things at this point. Tomorrow bread making. The next day, the world!
